Our Story

Canis Major was created in 2013 by Mr. Bond Rideout. 

Bond's vision for Canis Major is to give an affordable, high quality, raw dog food option to all dog owners within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and beyond. 

Since being launched in 2014, Canis Major has added its bone, treat, and bars line in 2016 and also Newfoundland Dog Treats in early 2017. 

About Bond Rideout

 Bond Rideout, originally from Blaketown, NL, has been involved in business and entrepreneurship since a very early age. His parents joke that he made money as a child selling "live, pet rocks". Before launching Canis Major, Bond successfully owned and operated Neptune Sea Products where he provided high quality "Ready to Eat" fish products throughout Altantic Canada and the United States of America. 

Bond believes that the local business community is key to providing jobs in our province. His product is only available in local stores, he only uses materials and supplies from local companies, and all of the companies profits remain in the province. Bond's goal is to build Canis Major and provide more jobs in rural Newfoundland. 

Customer Service

At Canis Major, we love dogs and want to ensure that all dogs and their owners have a positive and healthy experience. We offer 24 hour a day quality support and advice via facebook messenger.  We are always available to help answer questions such as "how much should I feed my dog?" "How do I transition to raw" "Where can I get your product" or even "help, I'm all out of patties, can I get some right away?". 

We do our best to make every puppy, dog, and dog parent happy. We stand by the quality of our products and are happy to replace anything which may not be satisfactory to our customers.

We work hard to ensure that we only use the highest quality source materials, that all of our SOPS are followed, and that the product is kept in the highest possible quality until delivered to the customer. 

We use 100% of our animals which means that your dog is getting all the superior cuts of beef  - like t-bones, strip loins and more! 

What is Newfoundland Dog Treats? 

New from Canis Major is Newfoundland Dog Treats. This product line consists of 100% all natural dried and dehydrated beef products. These products make great snacks, training treats, or can supplement a dog’s diet. These products are all freshly dehydrated in a human grade facility and then packaged for retail. Dogs have enjoyed all products, especially the Lung Cubes, Dehydrated Mixed Organ, and the Beef Jerky. Dried Tendons, Dried Tendon Pieces, and Dried Udder Bacon are all very popular products which have already sold out several times. This product line is shelf stable and does not require freezing.
